Making their second appearance on the Chantilly Farm stage and back by popular demand, The Steeldrivers continue to be one the hottest touring acts in bluegrass music today. As winners of the 2016 GRAMMY award for Bluegrass Album of the Year, the band has enjoyed enormous success in recent years selling out shows from coast to coast with their trademark sound and impressive stage show. The band has wowed audiences at some of the largest major festivals including Bonnaroo, Merlefest, Wintergrass, Bristol Rhythm and Roots and Telluride Bluegrass Festival. It’s their populist approach that finds their devotees — self-proclaimed “SteelHeads”– traveling hundreds of miles to see them in repeat performances. “It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years since our first album,” Rogers muses. “And yet, even with all the change and transition, we still have the same joy and enthusiasm that we did in the beginning.

This group of young adults – the oldest six of eight siblings in the ten-member Moore family – has created a sound, style, and image that are both unique and refreshing to bluegrass fans who are lucky enough to see them perform. Salt & Light draws influences from across the musical spectrum and have crafted a style of acoustic music which relies on elements of folk, Irish, bluegrass, and Americana styles. This gives their live performances a sense of variety and tastefulness, while maintaining a consistent, core traditional sound. Writing and arranging a large collection of original material, they are not interested in being known for their interpretation of other groups’ songs. While you may hear a familiar song or two within their show, Salt and Light is primarily concerned with performing their own music. When you see Salt and Light perform live, their show will take you from the edge of your seat, to a place of reflection, and may even get you on your feet, all with mostly original material.
